Hello, my name is Mark Renkens. I come from a small town called Palm Bay, Florida (infamous for drinking teens) and recently began attending the University of Central Florida in the Fall of 2012. I am a film major, so in lieu of my classes and films I watch on the side, I decided to use this blog as a way to let myself learn about, well, myself. I hope to obtain a sort of understanding in critiquing film and better my own evaluation on the art, and I thought, what better way to do so than to review the very movies I am screening for all of the Interwebs to see?
With this blogspot, I hope to not only review the films I encounter, but to communicate with my readers on a professional level to discuss these films and further my intuition and perspective on certain areas of film. This is not a personal gain, though, as I hope others can find the same satisfaction in doing this. Seeing as this is a public Internet piece, room for humor is always appreciated, but I hope to be able to locate some true film connoisseurs and be able to share my favorite pieces of cinema with them.
As for how the reviews will run! I will do my absolute best to steer clear of spoilers, seeing as they can ruin a film, old or new. Also, I will attempt to steer clear of a number system to rate the films. This causes readers to shoot straight to the bottom/top of the review and judge it based on a simple digit or two, and that is not what this site is intended for. Being this is the first post, I am also somewhat new to the blogspot site as a whole, so any input on how to better lay out my reviews or attract others is well appreciated. Thank you so much for your interest in my little project that could! A movie review should be up soon enough!
P.S. - In screening these movies, please do not come on the blog to expect the latest theater hits every time, as I plan to do this with any and every movie I watch for a period of time. Without a doubt, there will be new and old films, one no more or less than the other. Thanks again for your time, I hope this won't deflect any of you away!
